Culture.
Our hosts Nuria and Jordi made a beautiful party to celebrate the summer solstice. Fire crackers and fireworks were going off ALL night long. This night is as big as Christmas and New Years. Part of the tradition is to burn memorabilia of the past; books, furniture... anything and everything. We wrote down the things we wanted to leave behind to make room for the new, and then burned the paper. Cleansing. It's such a treat to be experiencing Barcelona this way.
La Nit Sant Joan.
On the way back our favorite place is closed....
A bonfire for cleansing.
Everything delicious.
For the beets. Yum Yum.
Atmosphere provided by Laia Cabrera.
Beets. Yum. I even knew how to say it in Spanish for a second!
The Gazpacho.
Setting up the balcony for the fiesta.
Nuria making the most amazing Gazpacho I've ever had.
Back in Barcelona.

A small clip from the performance.
The music in this clip is a piece that I created
with Submerged. Sorry it's so short, I was
performing simultaneously.
Claiming the space.
An image from the show.
Finally, the stage.
Starting to rehearse without the sun fully set.
Me and Laia and the scenery.
Me and the scenery.
Me.
Laia.
One of the major challenges was dealing with the light. We needed to rehearse the piece in the dark so that we could see the video but it didn't get dark until around 10:30 p.m. - Summer solstice in France. My view.
My set up.
This lunch seems simple but was actually amazing. This is my second helping and I ate it all... and then had dessert.
Trying out options.
How French is he??
One down, one to go.
I think their names were Didi and Titi but probably not... they were amazing techs. The projector screens were assembled within minutes.
Checking out options on where to build the set.
